Clement John and Patricia Danby
16 Hawkeswell Gardens
Oxford, England

Dear John and Patricia:

It's a long time and I still remember vividly my visit
to your place, remember the nice gardens and our talks. I
came with Henry, my nephew from Finland, and we talked about
Patricia being a sculpture and that she was at Oxford and had
been to Cambridge. She is very interested in Africa, which
everyone should be. I've been interested in Africa most of
my life.

How am I doing? Well, I've had my troubles and I've
injured my left leg - it affects my agility so I use a walker
or a wheelchair. I have a lot of helpers. My neighbor,
Nellie Willett, next door, shops for groceries for me. I
have a very handy, electrician and fixer-upper man named
Charles Russell Perkins. Today there is a typist coming
named Patsy Gardner. Another young lady, about 40 years old,
Jane Wheeler, does all sorts of things. A young woman will
be coming once-a-week. She is a red-head and apparently very
vivacious. She is coming tomorrow to look things over.

Henry and his wife Leila, daughter Helena and son Willie
came to spend almost a week here. They toured all over the
place. He attended a big coffee convention in San Francisco.
He had a chance to buy a big new coffee roaster worth about 1
million, that he could have gotten for $50,000, but he
decided that he wouldn't buy it because he would be competing
with the big companies. So he is going to stick to
specialty items like flavor coffees. One of the biggest
sellers is called Irish Mist. His biggest purchase of coffee
beans was 14,000 kilos - that is a lot of beans. They have
just moved to a new location where they will be living right
next to his factory. His new address is: Lehtismaenntie
#3,211, Nantali, Finland.

I do most of my own cooking presently. I did have a
lady from the Island of Fiji, who used to cook the meals,
however she wanted to cook about 3 o'clock. She did all the
housecleaning and dishes, and driving. The trouble was she
used to steal too much and she was very dominating. I am
getting along much better without her. I've had bad luck
with some of the people who I've helped. One young fellow
stole a lot of money and credit cards. Someone stole all my
bedding upstairs on the second floor. I don't go up to check
on it much. But I don't worry about that. They are the ones
with the problem! One young fellow ended up in jail, which
doesn't appeal to me.

I have nice toys - with my computer, I write articles.
Have enough for a couple of books. I'm just trying to save
the world. My father tried that and didn't quite make it, so
I'm carrying on. Don't think I'll make it, but I'm going to
write some disturbing articles and disturb somebody. I'll
enclose a couple of articles. I also have an IBM correcting
typewriter, electronic typewriter, a Canon copier - the best
they have for small businesses and it's a delightful affair
and I make a lot of copies - saves me from going down to the
copy shop. On my television, I have a gadget called a Tele-
Prompter that prints the words of the speaker. Also have a
fax machine.
