The developers have made a Playground of the Indus
Valley. The only place where we can grow dates.
The developers and the politicians would like to take over
Lee Anderson's date orchards. He is now age l00. Hew still
shows up for work every day. He and his family are the
only people in the world growing poison free dates. I have
never been without them for about 40 years. Until recently.
when they had finished in one orchard, they turned in the
pigs who would root out every fallen date and thus help
control disease. They can no longer. People steal the
pigs. Date fed pigs should be tasty.

The Lee Anderson family are still carrying on their great
work. The last two years have been very difficult. I
doubt if they have made a profit during these two years
I would be in favor of giving them a gift.

+Bob Hope lives in Palm springs which is in the same valley.
I plan to send him three pounds of fancy dates and suggest
that he buy dates from the Andersons. It will be good
for his health and good for the valley.

7. Last year we made a gift to Dr. Rudolph Bock to give to
the Rambo Committee. Dr. Bock is an eye surgeon.

Dr. Rambo, an eye surgeon , in India, did thousands of free
cataract operations for people in India. His son and the
committee are still carrying on the work.

Dr. Bock and his wife Odessa, have just returned from India.
While there, they travelled a lot and helped with the work.
Dr. Bock helped with the work and demonstrated some new
methods and gave much helpful advice. He visited Dr.
Rambo, 27 years ago, helping with what are called the eye
camps .

This time an Indian tailor made a complete Indian outfit
for Odessa. The tailor was badly cross eyed. Before he
left, Dr. Bock did a successful squint operation, a very
happy event for the tailor.
Dr. Bock helped raise money for a new van which was badly
needed for the eye camps. It carries the equipment needed
for the eye surgery. The patients walk in from the country
side and walk home the next day. They return once to pick
up their cataract glasses. There is a little ceremony when
the glasses are handed out. A happy event. Many of the
patients have been blind for years.

India is far away but the Rambo committee are really helping
the blind which is a big thing in the Lions Club. The
Indian tailor is a big booster and happy about the whole
thing. Our club might enjoy helping with a gift. It will
make us feel good.
