DANCERS

Dancing appears to be a very natural thing with the
young. It may be beneficial in their muscular development
and their sense of balance. At any age it can express our
happiness.

Professional Ballet Dancing is another matter.
The female dancers appear too thin, almost gaunt. Toe
dancing fills me with horror. It is so unnatural. It must
cause pain in learning. It may be worth it for the
stars but for the others, it looks like a bad bargain.

Anyone should admire a beautiful body but if a girl
or lady looks like an animated hat rack, I see no beauty.

Yesterday, Kitty Dukakis went through a five hour
operation to repair two ruptured discs in her neck.
I quote the San Jose Mercury of today. (Mrs.Dukakis 51
whose lifetime of modern dance may have caused her medical
condition, had been experiencing pain and numbness in her
hands neck and back for about a month. Late last week while
campaigning in California for her husband, her legs began
collapsing under her during an exercise walk.)

This event makes me feel very sad. She was a beautiful
vivacious woman. A kindly wonderful person. She was not
wh at I call an indurance type. As a dancer, she would put
on a spirited performance and then rest. She was not
designed for the continuous rigorous action of a compaigner.
