THE BURNING OF THE BOOKS
The time was =====. The Ptolemies had build a magnificent
library.. The plan was to establish a center
to save the best available knowledge of the world. The
results were magnificent.
It was located in Alexandria. It was destroyed.
Ever since, scholars have grieved about it.
Comment,
The above cases are part of conquest. They are not
normal because conquest is not normal. Recorded history is
full of warfare but there were always pockets of culture.
This months Smithsonian journal has an article about Rudyard
Kipling. He has been criticized for his strong beliefs in
the British Empire. A prominent Indian is quoted as saying,
"But he taught us about India.
.
Presently the minds of everyone is bombarded with half truths
and plain lies. The sheer noise must damage the minds of
most of us.
