Dear Friends:
The sun is shining. My tomatos are fruitful.
Long talk with my nephew in Finland.
We talked about many interesting things. Mostly cheerful.
However, the population of Morocco is expanding much beyond
their capacity to absorb. Henry tells me that the average
age there is l5 years.
Young men from Morocco are pouring into Europe. Train loads
arrive in Germany. Many come to Finland. Apparently almost
all plan to save enough to go back. They often marry a local
girl.
They are Mohammedans. Against family planning. Henry and I
could not think of a livable solution. Quite apart from
religion, if world population keeps expanding it means chaos.
Hope to tell you about some of the pleasant events that we
discussed.
In the background, however, was an awareness of the frightful
power of modern weapons.
For many years I have believed that peace might be helped
if our country developed a way of life that might act as a
model for people and nations to live together. If it was
good enough it could encourage other peoples to live better
and work for world survival
.
Presently, we are a great nation but we could be a better
example. People here live with too much fear, too much
ignorance, too much sickness etc. Too unnecessary.
Dear Henry:
I dashed this off after we talked.
Best wishes to all of you.
